The Rising Danger of "Low-T"

From Ring of Fire:

Aging brings with it many changes. In men, these changes can include decreased sexual drive, sluggishness and lowered acuity. These changes are part of a natural process that includes a reduction in the amount of testosterone that the body produces. Big Pharma corporations have seized on these natural changes, however, and created a disease that has come to be known as “Low-T”. But they also have a hidden danger for some men: increased risk of cardiac injury.

A new article has been published that outlines the results of a study of men using prescription testosterone treatments. This study found a substantially increased risk of heart attack in older men and younger men with pre-existing heart disease that were taking testosterone treatments, as compared to a control group.

“Testosterone therapies are currently under a lot of scrutiny,” commented Brandon Bogle, an attorney with the Levin, Papantonio law firm who practices in the areas of personal injury and bad drug litigation. “Creating diseases just to sell the cure puts patients at needless risk. This study highlights that for many individuals, testosterone treatment is not a safe choice.”

Much of mordern medicine is resolving problems that are not related to natural processes. I take medicine to reduce the symptoms of Parkinson's Disease, which is not a natural part of aging. It is, in my case, probably caused by exposure to pesticides. At age seventy, I probably have "low T." I certainly have lost a good deal of stamina and ebergy. It has never occurred to me that I should get my doctor to restore me to the energy and stamina that I had as a thirty-year-old. I have not "asked my doctor about low t" and do not intend to do so.

A reduction in testoserone is a natural part of the aging process, as the slowdown is physical acuity that accompanies it. Seventy year old males trying to deny the age that they have reached and attempting to maintain the lifestyle that they had as younger persons is a far different deal than is a person maintaining a normal lifestyle in the face of a debilitating disease.

It's the difference between relieveing destructive symptoms and trying to deny the effects that are a natural result of our stage in life.

And I have no idea where killing with your own hands came from. Cave men did the killing and shared the food with their women, female lions do most of the killing and share the kill with the rest of the pride, including males who seldom to never hunt. So it is not "against nature" to eat something which you did not personally kill.

Because nature would dictate that you lie on your back and starve to death rather than using a crutch.

This is becoming ridiculous.

After the child bearing years, both in men and women, Nature says, "I'm done with you - go away". Screw around with that decision and all kinds of perilous things can happen.

4. "Low-T" is medical fraud IMO, a lot of 'symptoms' don't match up with real low testosterone

Notice how these commercials don't mention loss of body hair or muscle weakness, those are also symptoms. Real low testosterone can also be a sign of a real medical problem, such as a brain tumor. So just giving someone some pill and it will make their "t" problem go away can actually delay treatment for something that actually needs it.

5. There is a lot of disinformation in this thread.

A lawyer involved in a litigation plus a no-shit study should not stop MD's from treating what is becoming an epidemic for men in my generation. Why? Who knows exactly. Why are there more allergies to peanuts and more autistic children?

Unless you have actually experienced low testosterone, for whatever cause, and have been treated for it, most of this article is bullshit.

Testosterone is a controlled substance first of all. It requires extensive testing to even get insurance approval. Then the script is given at three months intervals tops with subsequent blood work to check levels and hormonal imbalances which could arise. My PCP could not just prescribe testosterone supplementation. I have to get it through my endocrinologist.

Second, pre-existing heart conditions is what was looked at. Most men do not have it, and if they do or is a chance, then work-ups prior to supplementation are done. My father has a heart condition, therefore, before I was started on testosterone, I had a full cardiac workup including stress-test, echo, EKG, and blood work.

Finally, there is ample research on the deleterious effects of low testosterone on aging men. Even upping levels to moderate ranges appropriate for age has shown dramatic reductions in weight, blood sugar problems, heart problems, etc.

for the hormone replacement treatment HRT in women when they found out it really is more harmful than good. They had to find a new market. So they turned to the hormone replacement Low T for men. How many years and how many men will have to die before they decide this is a bad idea too?????

Until the prostate cancer. Some forms of it thrive because of testosterone. It feeds it. Once you get the cancer you can take your $500.00 a month shots to block it or have an orchiectomy.

11. when pharma started creating the lab tests for diagnosis..
Fri Feb 21, 2014, 03:54 PM
Feb 2014

our quality of care went in the toilet.

America was more effective in treating thyroid hormone disorders prior to lab tests created by those that profit from the treatments.

I'm not saying the over diagnosis, I'm saying they delay the diagnosis until it's caused greater health issues, and they make more profit the sicker you get.

Our glands communicate via hormone levels. When one is off, it throws glandualar functioning off.

Doctor's are still using the TSH to diagnose thyroid issues. It's incorrect, and the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists states it as so.

Low T? Selling a treatment product for this condition is very profitable. The hormone imbalances that cause it, are the product's we consume and use. I've had 3 male members of the same family discuss this with me. Why? They know that I research endocrine distruptor's. All 3 males were in their 30's when this low T happened to them.
Think about the target consumer here? Think about the selling points? The cause and the affect are known.

When science teaches you that putting hormones in lives stock feed makes them big and fat, the ahah moment is providing $$$$$$$ treatment for the consequences of consuming it by the human.

The rich & elite buy organic, eat healthier food, and filter their water in their homes and businesses. The building materials are not the same as our box store quality. Their health is different because of
