Piers Morgan Lays Into ‘Idiotic’ Pizzeria Owner For Gun Promotion: ‘I Hope It Fails Miserably’

VIDEO here: http://www.mediaite.com/tv/piers-morgan-lays-into-idiotic-pizzeria-owner-for-gun-promotion-i-hope-it-fails-miserably/

A pizzeria owner from Virginia Beach recently injected himself into the national conversation on guns by offering a 15% discount to anyone who entered his shop carrying a gun. Tuesday night, that young man, Jay Laze, found himself on the wrong side of Piers Morgan‘s outrage on CNN. -snip-

I would quit and then sue the bastard for endangering my life on the job with his nutty promotions. People don't have to put up with cigarette smoke, so they shouldn't have to put up with this lunacy.

Everyone will be so safe until the coroner arrives.

I would be far more hesitant to eat at a restaurant that had a "no guns" sign on the door.

I feel that Piers is suffering from excessive paranoia when he mentions his fear of an accidental discharge in the pizzeria. A modern handgun in a quality holster is quite safe. Most accidental discharges occur when loading or unloading a firearm.

It would be helpful to know exactly what firearm and holster the individual was wearing.

He might for example have had an older western style revolver which would discharge when dropped if a round was in the cylinder under the firing pin. The weapon might have been a Glock which has the safety on the trigger which is somewhat like putting the parking brake on top of the accelerator pedal of a car. Perhaps his pants started to drop when he stood up and he grabbed for his handgun and made contact with the trigger.

A quality holster covers the trigger and helps deter an accidental discharge.

Of course the individual might have been playing with his weapon which is always foolish.

I always am EXTREMELY careful if I use a bathroom while I am carrying.

Because such accidents are so rare, I would have no problem eating at the pizzeria.

I feel he may be trying his best to emulate O'Reilly in order to pump up his ratings. He can be very bombastic and pompous just like O'Reilly. Often he refuses his guest the opportunity to respond and instead of hosting a productive debate he launches into an insulting diatribe.

Watching Piers versus the pizzeria owner was like watching Mike Tyson at his peak in the boxing ring against a light weight.

Piers has little knowledge or understanding of American gun culture and is cemented in his views. He definitely is a strong advocate for a new assault weapons ban although I suspect that he actually would like to see gun laws such as exist in Britain imposed on our citizens.

While I totally disagree with him on many gun control issues, I often watch his program as it is often entertaining. The only problem I have is that he has managed to convince me that our founders were very wise to rebel against England. Most Brits that I have encountered seem far more polite and more open minded than Piers.

But still I would never sign the petition to deport him. I actually do consider his viewpoint and to a degree I find he does make some valid points.
