refused to allow him to sing it on the Smothers Brothers show - and the brothers protested and ultimately did get him on and he did sing it.
However, it was part of the protests that the Smothers were doing against, Johnson, Nixon, and the Vietnam war that ultimately brought CBS to shut down the show.
America's loss - thank you, Tom and Dick, for the good fight!
