I think that sort of glandular politics only creeps into peoples' subconscious thoughts and come out when they're drunk or British. Real people keep thoughts like that suppressed

That is how immigration is DESTROYING (your word not mine) the US, it is leading to lower wages and destruction of the Working Class and the Middle Class. Economics is the main reason (and in most cases the only real reason) immigration is permitted and that is how immigration is destroying America.

The people being destroyed by immigration do not really care about the arts, for it is BELOW Feeding Clothing and Housings their Family in their list of priorities. Art does NOT put food on the table, and most people are concerned about HOW TO FEED THEIR FAMILIES, HOW TO HOUSE THEIR FAMILIES AND HOW TO CLOTH THEM. Immigration, by forcing down wages, hurts those three objections of any working person, as such ART does not matter for the people being "Destroyed" can NOT afford Art.

When I was a teenager in the Los Angeles area, I had a part time job washing dishes. The pay was low but it was enough to put gas in my Ford Pinto. I learned how to keep on schedule and good work ethics.
Now high school kids can't get those part time jobs.
When I was a teenager in the Los Angeles area, I could talk to my neighbors. Now I can't unless I learn to speak Spanish.
When I was a teenager, I didn't have to paint over the graffiti on my wall every week, now I do. I'm not sure what half of it means since I can't read Spanish.
On the 4th of July my neighbors proudly fly Mexican flags in front of their houses.
My aunt is a school teacher in Pasadena. In the early 90's they told her she MUST learn to speak Spanish or lose her job.
A few years ago a local principal was ambushed and assaulted by his students. The reason for the assault? "We want a Mexican principal."
The local garbage collectors had their union busted. All of the well paid American union workers were replaced with gentlemen who spoke not a single word of English. You know, to help the country.

But I will admit that they are not "destroying the country". Just some communities are being sacrificed for cheap labor.

You have no reason to think your neighbors should want learn your language when you make no effort to learn theirs.

That said, we do need to raise the minimum wage, and make sure it applies to everyone. There would be no incentive to hire undocumented immigrants if they had to paid as much as anybody else.

You really think I should learn the language of my neighbors to make their life easier? Isn't it their responsibility to learn the language and culture of the nation they moved to?
If I moved to Mexico, I would not expect my neighbors to learn English because I'm too lazy to learn Spanish. I would not expect the school teachers to learn English to teach my children or else lose their jobs.
If I moved to Mexico or Italy or Japan or Germany, would it be respectful for me to fly the American flag on their most patriotic holidays?
When my neighbors fly their Mexican flags on the 4th of July, do you really consider that respectful to the United States? It's not like they fly their Mexican flags the rest of the year.
