Could we HAVE more blatant evidence that patriarchy is alive and well in this nation?! Men are as much victims of this divisive and damaging social construct as are women--most just don't get it.

Because those jerks don't really represent me, they don't represent 99% of men. They are shills praded around by other shills. It is a terrible image but I think it really just represents how out of touch these republicans are because they are so used to being bought and sold and being told what to say without any moral qualms that they don't even know anymore what is wrong and what is right. They don't even see how stupid that looks. They probably think that right wing voters won't care.

I see a corporatocracy, to which Nancy Pelosi belongs as surely as they do.

patriarchy predominates in most contemporary socio-cultural milieux.

Please, don't interpret this assertion as a 'blame and shame' gambit. As I said before, we are ALL distorted by the patriarchal precepts promulgated by our ancestors.

Although I hesitate to suggest this (because she is incredibly DENSE), please read Dorothy Dinnerstein's "The Mermaid and the Minotaur" for more info regarding our species' predilection toward patriarchy. Her rather pedantic tome will challenge your critical thinking skills, but I feel strongly that such skills are being subverted by our vile Corporate Megalomaniacs, who've usurped our media, our politics, and our global economy. Consequently, ANYTHING that helps us hone said skills SHOULD be pursued.
