but I had worries about this being the case taken to the SCOTUS. At the time of her spouse's death, equal marriage was not the law in NY, and besides, the marriage was created in a foreign country. We wouldn't expect the SCOTUS to give a tax ruling (that's what this was, in effect) in favor of a man whose four wives from a Muslim country died and left him property to inherit.

In any case, I'm happy for the result.
