IMHO, while the internet may have done horrible things to the production values of the majority of sex videos out there, I think it has improved the conditions under which much porn is made.
When it was exclusively controlled by a capitalist industry, you ended up with widespread stories of abuse, coercion, and an assumption that the participants were of a certain "character" in order to "sell their bodies" to strangers on film. This is not my belief, but more a comment on the widespread perception of those who have historically chosen make pornographic movies.
Now, you have massive volume of people who care about each other deciding that its OK to share their intimate moments with the world. I will stop short of saying this is the majority of the porn available, but its prevalent enough now to have take much of the "whores and abusive men" prejudice away from those who participate in making sexually themed videos. You now have thousands of people making videos that were made under mutually caring conditions with the intent on sharing that, but without having to bow to a production company in order to do so.
This is re-localizing the power structure of the porn industry in a way. While you still have mega houses that produce sometimes startlingly HIGH quality pornographic videos, the emergence of the "cottage" porn industry, IMHO, should help to dissolve some of the stigma and get us to a place where sharing sexual moments between two consenting adults is just that, a situation controlled by two consenting adults and no one else's business.
I have no delusions that this shift will change the conservative point of view on Porn as they think even sex between consenting, heterosexual adults is within their domain to control. But, its been an interesting personal observation born of years of internet porn watching.
