I think they should turn in their government healthcare plans as a gesture of good faith and live on the free market like the rest of us.
(My healthcare premiums just went from 110/month as an employed person, to 764 as a laid-off one on COBRA. California unemployment is a maximum of $450 a week (which I qualify for) but does not begin to cover my mortgage, far less healthcare or any other essential expenses).

(3,811 posts)They will have to switch from the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program to the exchanges created by the law. Lawmakers and staffers will be subject to the mandate to have health insurance or pay a fine, just as everyone else is.
