(24,461 posts). . . To make "God Bless the USA" our new National Anthem.
. . . To retroactively make the 28% TMTR during Reagan permanent.
. . . For "One Nation Under God" to be retrofitted in all documents in the National Archive.
. . . For Fox News to be the State Network.
. . . For all high schools to have mandatory Bible and Ayn Rand classes.
. . . For every home to display Old Glory . . . OR ELSE.

(5,279 posts)The Supreme Court is overtly republican leaning and covertly christian leaning. So, they control 1/2 of 1/3, can jam up the other half of the same third, and reliably count on their view point being favored by the top of a second third.

I get a huge kick out of going on Yahoo! (almost as much RW Kook Central as FreeRep) when they start in on impeachment...I get them really pissed off with just a few simple questions.
1. On what grounds? The Constitution requires "high crimes and misdemeanours."
2. Specific charges?
3. Have you told your Representative/Senator these specific charges and DEMANDED Articles of Impeachment?
4. If not, why the hell haven't you got off your duff and onto the phone?
5. I'll tell you why. It's because you have slightly less evidence for impeachment than for the existence of the Tooth Fairy.
Man, do they ever get hot about that. If I get less than 10 thumbs-down it's a miracle.

Sometimes I think we're headed for another Civil War. Sometimes I think we're already In one - a Civil Cold War.
Regardless, when the dust settles I'm hoping that the words "I Vote Republican" will have the social impact of saying "I have puss filled blisters on my genitals."
In other words, it may be true, but it won't win you any friends.

We do not have a bad guy to pin it on. We have a whole class who I hope will eventually be held accountable. It obviously doesn't matter if there is a "D"or an "R" behind your name. This erosion of humanity has been increasing since ( at least)
Reagan under "both" parties.
It has gotten so unfair that it must end soon.

(3,003 posts)What this means is that there are enough House members who would like to have Obama removed from office before his term is over. But they can't just vote to remove him as they can in a parliamentary form of government, so now they just have to find something to justify impeachment.

(16,916 posts)But the Senate must convict, and that takes 66 votes.
Even if we lose the Senate we still won't lose it by that kind of margin

(16,916 posts)then it doesn't matter if it can be proven, or even appear credible. In fact, when did that ever stop a Republican?
They'll say he lied about Benghazi, pretend like they've already proved it, have a vote, and boom.

It would be a political circus and destroy the old school GOP, IMHO. Only 20% of the people still have a favorable approval of the GOP in congress. How about the GOP get their ass in gear and help Mr. Obama fund our broken infrastructure repairs and create some of those "Jobs, Jobs, Jobs", that Mitt and the GOP were promising this time last year, instead of trying to hamstring the president.
If anyone in Washington deserves to be "IMPEACHED," they are the GOP in congress and on the bench of the SCOTUS.

(2,818 posts)... and the crimes of abuse of power - and crimes they were - from which Nixon fled from office to avoid being charged with, were less destructive, less far reaching, less pervasive and on a much lesser scale than the crimes which Obama commits every week: From creating a totalitarian surveillance state, to acting as Judge, Jury, and Executioner as he personally picks those who will die by dronefire.
If Obama were to be impeached, it would not be because of his race, but because of his egregious abuse of power and destruction of the individual liberties upon which this country was founded - liberties which are clearly set forth in the first Ten Amendments to the Constitution which were designed to protect American citizens from the very type of despotic state which Bush and Obama have labored to create.
