(15,681 posts)Didn't he have a similar hate rant about President Obama wanting everyone to have the opportunity to go to college? "How dare Obama assume everyone wants a college degree?" (Paraphrasing) "How dare he insult all the many people who only want to go to trade school?" (Again, paraphrasing.) And what about all the blah people? That was him as well, wasn't it?
He is a special kind of icky stupid. You would think his wife, or one of his modern day kids, would try to tell him what a joke he is - or at least be embarrassed by him. If I had the misfortune of being a family member, it would be my a mission in life to shut him up.

Maybe had an epiphany and suddenly decided America is a classless society.
Ricky should pay more attention when quoting people verbatim . The statement was that everyone should have the chance to attend college . It did not say everyone should go to college .

was a harsh schoolmaster in a Dickens novel...and it certainly suits here.
Jack Rabbit
(45,984 posts)I doubt Mr. Santorum has ever read anything by Karl Marx or, if he has, that he is the least bit capable of understanding it.
If one were to poke a pin in Santorum's head it would make a loud pop followed by a high pitched whistle, with the pitch becoming gradually lower until it stops altogether. After this, Santorum's head would no longer be able to float in water, as it can now.

PS. Yeah It's "Marxist" not "Marxism". remember, to a politician the correct words are important.

(45,984 posts)They often get nouns and adjectives confused. Look at the way they've been using Democrat as an adjective. They've been doing this for years. It makes them sound so illiterate.

I have been saying for years that among some conservatives, ignorance is actually considered A Good Thing. (William F. Buckley! thou shouldst be alive in this hour; conservatism hath need of thee: she is a fen of stagnant waters: altar, sword, and pen)

I don't have much to say to this guy except that I hope he hides good when he realizes everyone is out on the street because the inequality has gotten so bad that folks can't take it anymore.
You may not wish to talk about class Mr. Santorum, but the results of your your behavior will eventually catch up to you.

(611 posts)They have to scare their people away from any reasonable message from our side. Can't have their people starting to use their actual brains to, you know, think about issues that affect them. The Republican base needs to have a quick, easy label to apply to such things, so they will shut down before they can actually hear and consider the merits of alternative ideas or viewpoints. The nature of the label doesn't matter, needn't make sense. There can be more than one label, and they can be mutually contradictory. That doesn't matter, as the label is there to block thought or discussion, not actually explain anything.

Triana
(22,666 posts)To hell with calling these folks "tea party" members - they ARE the modern face of the John Birch Society. Nothing more, nothing less.
I say we start referring to them as "Birchers" since there is nothing even vaguely patriotic about them.
Triana
(22,666 posts)Same attitudes. Same language, words, phrases that the public and the media soundly exposed and REJECTED in the 1960s -- and that they should expose and reject again.
EDIT: and the FACTS are that the Tea Party did evolve from the John Birch Society - it's just JBS with a different name. Claire Conner's book tells the whole story. Poppy Koch was also one of the original JBS founders! It's Bircherism - plain and simple. History is repeating itself only this time, the media is NOT calling them out and they've got more money and a lot more power and influence - thanks to their friends on the USSC - namely Clarence Thomas and his wife Ginny.
Blue Idaho
(4,988 posts)They are Birchers - Period. Its nothing more than the re-branding of ideas America rejected decades ago. They have just wrapped it up in the good old red white and blue and slapped a "New & Improved!" label on it to attract the gullible. I hope others follow your lead, I know I will keep trying to spread the message.
Birchers - Wrong then, Wrong now.
