So they don't have to. It was repealed in 1987. The media is now completely a propaganda organ of the Republican Party, and have been so for so long, that both parties have moved incredibly far to the right.

And alternative media is no better, turns out they are supporting the JBS, too. They're coming from both sides with the so called liberal-tarians, baggers and patriots. There is a lot of money to be made selling this vision and people will gravitate toward the money.

The government that would be democratic has had its cut throat by denying it the funds to attract people to things that work for the common good. Society had already become less horizontally organized by technology. That way the exchange information/ networking comes directly from the 1% and each person is inundated with the same message packaged in dozens of ways.

You have a tradition or a psychological need and they have just right way to sell you. But the end result is they win. I'm not sure when people lost the ability to truly think for themselves about the consequences of what their votes meant, but I think it was just before Reagan got in.

The first step were forms entertainment that kept people enthralled and then once they'd created a lifestyle around taking that in, they didn't stop. At least this has been my experience.

Commercial culture only covers aspects of life and paths of thinking that the 1% want you to go. They want you to think it's your own conclusion but they refuse to give you all the facts or data to make an informed decision. People I know who avoided TV, radio and internet and kept to horizontal or face to face commerical may not have the rush that modern communications can generate but they are more grounded.

IMHO.

We all know the root of the problem. but it is evidently so ingrained that if we don't solve it, and quickly, we are on a trajectory that will not be able to be corrected. We may have already gone past the tipping point.
