(111,244 posts)When exurbs sprout up, the first thing they do is try to regulate all the people who were already there out of being small farmers. I saw it when I lived in a small town in Mass. but to their credit, most of my neighbors told the suburban asshole with the petition to go pound sand.
I suppose the jerks in this town got the nuisance zoning law and when the cops were less than enthusiastic in enforcing the conversion of gardens to lawn grass, they decided to call in a bogus drug tip.
I can see why people would complain about roosters in a densely populated area. However, a lot of people in my inner city neighborhood have backyard chickens and more power to them.
And my old neighborhood? Google Earth shows me the farm is still a going concern and that it's still messy as anything that works for a living generally is.
