I remember reading about it in the news, and hearing excerpts of the speeches on Armed Forces Radio.

All of the video coverage was new to me; some of it still is.

50 years. Backwards on women's rights lately ... backwards on race relations. It's quite sad.

Republicans exposed themselves as openly racist.

In the 90s they were claiming we didn't NEED all of those laws from the Civil Rights Era because racism didn't exist anymore.

(Thomas) say no more racism in the USA as of 2013. WTF . .

Yes, the gopers want this country to go way back and not just race relations but women's rights also and many others. How in the hell can educated people deny science . .

"Obama had to show his paper, no other president had to"

"Other presidents tried to get health care for everyone , like Nixon and Roosevelt but Obama is the one who got it. "

Here is the rant.

This was in 63...I was 16 going on 17...This address, and "ON THE BEACH" movie, Viet Nam and the assassinations of JFK and MLK made me the progressive anti war woman I am today. and I am white.

Mai Lai, Watergate, The Iran Contra affair and Iraq invasion reinforced my beliefs

I am forever correcting the misinformation that many people, in Canada where I live , that have hatred of immigrants because they are given all this "stuff" when they come to Canada. There are Canadians who hate aboriginals too.

America is not the only country with racists but America has a lot of the in government. Scares the hell out of me. I loved visiting America but now I will not go...Too much hatred of minorities, the poor . Too much crazy religion nuts and gun nuts.

Snopes must be busy with all the confirmations of false info on the viral emails. I go to them often for my racist Obama hating bubba NJ brother's emails.

and well dressed- everyone was, and how excited I was for my first train trip with my dad! We had just moved from very white Ohio to a mostly black neighborhood in a city just north of New York City...

THe next 10 years were a great awakening for me, and a whole generation of activists. AND, between Pete Seeger, Baez, Odetta, Memphis and Motown, we had the best soundtrack for a changing world!
