"They want to bomb Iran, but theyre afraid of Rush Limbaugh.
I could do without the hackneyed equivalency stuff about the left, but otherwise, he's right about something for once.

(2,485 posts)Boehner will probably have to go to Rush now and walk back that "inappropriate" remark.

(5,609 posts)the "inappropriate" remarks are only wrong in Will's world because it is hurting the Republican brand nationwide on a devastating scale. Will is only saying it out of his hidden abject fear that they are going to lose on a massive scale this November.

Rush is just one of many things going against the GOP, and while spending three days obsessing on Sandra Fluke is probably his worst offense, he's been saying some pretty outrageous things for a long, long time.
Rush Limbaugh isn't our worst enemy. He hasn't changed anyone's mind in decades. He's a racist, a misogynist, a sectarian bigot and a homophobe. So are his regular listeners. They don't want information, and Rush doesn't provide any. They want their fear and loathing validated. He and his dittoheads love America and hate most Americans. Moreover, he's extremely crude about it. If you were sitting on the fence on this or that issue of the day, would you listen to Rush for enlightened opinion? Do you think calling his opposition something crude is persuasive?
We've given that man too much attention. When this boils over, as it will, let's just ignore him to death. To borrow a phrase from Grover Norquist, let's starve the beast.

(31 posts)Of course. If they stand up to Flush, they'll be in the cross hairs. Bombing Iran does not impose that danger.

Yeah... just like I thought... reaching for the false equivalence because you can't bear the thought of just reproaching your own without dragging in the non sequitur of "well, they do it, too" in to buttress your weak-sauce argument. WE'RE NOT TALKING ABOUT LIBERALS/PROGRESSIVES: WE'RE TALKING ABOUT YOU THUGS AND YOUR DEAFENING SILENCE AGAINST THIS UNPROVOKED, UNACCEPTABLE PERSONAL ATTACK ON A YOUNG WOMAN.
What's more disgusting is that the panel let him get away with it without challenging him to name one instance when it happened. But, hey, it's ABC, so don't expect any kind of effort to be made to keep facts straight.

(1,122 posts)George Will is still ... Party First!
Rather than focusing 100 percent of his criticism on the topic of the GOP and Rush Limbaugh ... he had to falsely venture out to claim there being excesses from The Left.
He's out of touch. The GOP is playing a game of political Kill Or Be Killed that Will has not caught onto. (Or that he won't cop to.)
This thing with Rush Limbaugh: I don't mean to come across dismissing it. But I am cynically recognizing it as just another thing Limbaugh said to get people to keep his name in circulation. And it worked. It continues to work, because people choose to do it. He's a kind of showbiz political talk. And in showbiz, it's better to have bad publicity than no publicity.
So, with George Will doing his scolding on ABC's This Week, I imagine the real feedback from his preferred party is this: Retire, Mr. Will!

(54,387 posts)He can't bring himself to say "Democrats." He is, at the end of the day, a Foxsucker along with the rest of them.
Note to George:
You knew my dad. He respected you. I do not. Ergo, to put it in simple terms:
Democrats are Democrats. We are not all "liberals," and the two are not automatically synonymous, just
because Roger Ailes and Rush Limbaugh want them to be. You parroting their line doesn't make them
synonymous, either, bow tie or no.
Republicans are Republicans. These days, almost NONE of you are conservative. You just highjacked the
label. You can call yourselves fish while in your bathtubs, too, but you'll still never grow gills.

(4 posts)Where does the Right get this idea that Liberals don't "police themselves"? I've seen tons of criticism about Chris Matthews,Olberman,Bill Maher-you name it all coming from the Left. What the wingers don't understand is that most so called media "Lefties" are at best moderates who don't represent the views of real Liberals. This is why if they bothered to research it they would discover that Liberals go after "their own" all the time.
