1. It is like the republicans see they are "going down"

and they are willing to take America with them.

They are praying (to no avail) that America's default would cause minimal damage, then "the people" will see that they were right and they would remain relevant to some.

The reality is a fire sale for international corporations. That may be what their masters want.

Americans (like Greece did) would have no option but to take to the streets as we starve and watch our public commons sold for nothing. Class warfare would be inevitable.

The "Great Depression" would, by comparison, be a great period in history.

This sounds like a "prepper" scenario.
