They didn't care who or for what reasons. They just wanted blood and revenge on someone. Afghanistan (and then Iraq) were two easy targets for the blood lust of our population. Supposedly the nations of Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Kuwait, and Yemen are our allies.

I can't speak for Afghanistan as I was never in that country and never saw that conflict first hand, but that is startlingly clear in the war on Iraq. The way Soldiers (sadly, including myself) conducted themselves wasn't about putting the Iraqi people first, it was about putting our safety first and looking for whatever reasons we could to spill some Arab blood.

bush and the DINOs that went along with him were all too happy and eager to give as much war as they could on the Middle East to the American people.

Sadly, other than the reason I posted above, I don't know why we went to war in Afghanistan or Iraq either.
