4. columbus fail

forget the romantic version that elementary school taught us about Columbus. Columbus was imperialist who kidnapped and torture the natives and their is absolutely nothing to celebrate him with. No he didn't discover that the earth was round....Islamic scholars centuries before Columbus theorized the earth was round, no he didn't discover the America as both the natives and even the Vikings found it before he did, no his feat wasn't impressive....the Chinese sailors had journeyed far from their mainland centuries before Columbus and some theorized (not proven yet) that they also discovered America. Columbus wasn't even a good navigator. HE GOT LOST and discovered the Bahamas on accident. He was a horrible governor to the point where he was arrested by the Spanish crown

so whats to celebrate....why celebrate a failure, an imperialist murdered like Columbus! Do away with this stupid "holiday"

5. Went out this morning to an office, and noted today was a holiday but didn't remember what it was.

Friend said, 'It's Columbus Day' with a frown.

I said, 'What? I didn't know it was a holiday anymore.'

A white woman at the counter glowered, 'A rapist! It should be abolished.'

I do believe she saw Thom this morning. Get rid of this abominable holiday and tell the truth!

Saw the youtube comments calling Thom too P.C. and something about communists. Said Obama was politicizing it and it was manufactured outrage.

Really? Did they even contemplate what was recorded, what Thom said?

People talk about the global sex trade, their children being abused, and blame gays, liberals, etc. No, it's a tradition that needs to die off.

But is PC, etc. all that some people see in the request to change the name or eliminate it?

His video talks about the Redskins, and he is correct. Is there no logic being taught, no history, no philosophy, no vale on the worth of a man, woman and child?

6. Mark Thompson made an excellent point today

He said for all those who are not Native American and also claiming it's not an offensive description...he said for them to go out to a reservation and go up the nearest group of people and greet them with, "How you all doin' redskins?"
