Supposedly frivolous lawsuits.
Except most of the lawsuits listed at the "Stella Awards" were simply made up.

The way the Liebeck case was misreported by the media, it was practically made up too.

(16,201 posts)3. I first learned the truth of this case in Engineering School.
It was taught as an example of responsibility to ensure the product is safe. Basically, McDonalds knew the coffee temp was too high (190F), in fact higher than the industry average of 165F, and this made the burns more severe versus the annoying first degree burns at 165F.
It was quite an eye opener since the actual facts had been so distorted.
