Sharon Katz and the Peace Train
Sharon Katz was appointed one of Mandela's cultural ambassador. Both Sharon and Mariam Makeba were students of the legendary SA musician Dolly Rathebe. Sharon studied with Dolly Rathebe by being smuggled into Soweto in the trunk of a car when she was in her teens. In the early 90's Sharon toured with a 150 interracial children's choir to sing against apartheid. Sharon currently resides in Philadelphia and works as a music therapist when she is not touring in the States and South Africa.
