This Week in God

In general, this kind of overt religiosity is uncommon in televised campaign commercials – it’s reminiscent of this 2007 spot for Mike Huckabee’s presidential campaign – and especially unusual for contemporary Democratic officials.

But in an unexpected twist, Pryor was slammed, not by church-state separationists, but by the National Republican Senatorial Committee. “So is the Bible Mark Pryor’s compass, providing the ‘comfort and guidance to do what’s best for Arkansas?’ Or is it really not a good rule book for political issues and decisions made in the Senate? Guess it depends on which Mark Pryor that you ask,” NRSC Director Brad Dayspring responded.

See Pope Francis.

As for Pryor's compass, it seems to have the disadvantage of pointing him in all directions at all times.

This fool seems to forget that his religion is not the only religion and that Govt doesn't have a religion. I always wonder how these fools face disabled war veterans that happen to be something other than Christian

GOP Senate Candidate Scolds Republican Group for ‘Offensive’ Attack on his Dem Opponent

Democratic Senator Mark Pryor put out a campaign ad today touting his Christian values and calling the Bible the “North Star” that guides his life. But Pryor actually got some pushback for the religious ad from the National Republican Senatorial Committee, but the attack backfired when Pryor’s Republican opponent Tom Cotton actually stood up for him against the GOP group.

Pryor’s ad looks a lot like something you might see from a Republican candidate, but the NRSC’s Brad Dayspring called out Pryor for touting the Bible as a moral compass when, just last year, he said, “the Bible is really not a rule book for political issues.” Dayspring thought this showed Pryor to be a hypocrite.

So is the Bible Mark Pryor’s compass, providing the “comfort and guidance to do what’s best for Arkansas? ” Or is it really not a good rule book for political issues and decisions made in the Senate? Guess it depends on which Mark Pryor that you ask.

And then, somewhat surprisingly, Cotton’s campaign actually stood up and condemned the attack on their opponent.

For example, his eyes are happy with the notion that he finds the Bible to be a compass and north star.

But, he is not as happy with his expressing that it is a comfort and guide. His eyes dart.

He ends with what I see as an 'I fooled you' smile.

He seems to know he is being edgy and possibly, as he would see it himself, wrong in doing this ad. What he is good at is hiding his desperation in doing this ad. But, then, doing this kind of ad at all belies that desparation.
