Ring of Fire: America Desperate for Minimum Wage Increase

Ring of Fire's Mike Papantonio and Sam Seder discuss where the federal minimum wage should be in light of recent arguments for and against its increase.

1. I wonder what guys like me in the $17.00 range can expect if minimum goes up? I suppose

we will be told by the right that we should be pissed that burger flippers will now be making as much as we make. At least it will be more than I started out my current job at. They will play it as low wage people taking something away from us to get more. There might be a little of that effect at first possibly, but I expect it to sort out.

Since everyone's money competes for goods and services, low wage people all of a sudden being able to afford some things they couldn't before will make some things scarcer and or dive prices up. But the increased demand will also provide more opportunity and profit. I would expect wages for commercial drivers to possibly go up accordingly. That will get me a raise!

Now if we can just put a stop to the looting at the top to keep them from getting farther ahead, maybe things will begin to get back into an acceptable balance.
