as a sign language interpeter myself.....this litle angel did a marvelous service for her mother

"oralist experts" tried to prohibit KODAs from learning ASL because they insisted it would damage their ability to learn to speak and understand standard spoken English. (Just as they tried to prevent Deaf kids from learning it as well).

Now we know the opposite is true: just as with any bi or tri-lingual family, the more exposure kids get to different languages, and early on, the better they do all around, all else being equal.

Too bad this kid wasn't standing next to the President on Monday. Looks like she would have done a way better job interpreting!
