surprised it wasn't posted here yet, so there goes
First topic is Mandela. This is gonna get interesting! On further edit: also a brilliant breakdown of the GM bailout vs Detroit bankruptcy. And then onwards to Spain, and the protest against the anti-protest law. Then on to "the long view": declining wages, the new (bad) deal, protest and an NSA pointer.
Ah, here's the content summarized:
These Tuesday evenings begin with updates and analyses of the last month's major economic events. We focus on the global capitalist economic crisis, government responses, and the growing challenges to contemporary capitalism. We examine resistances to "austerity," "deficit reduction" and other programs aimed to "socialize" the costs of capitalist crisis. Alternative theories for understanding these issues are considered. Likewise, we examine alternatives to capitalism as solutions to today's economic problems. When time permits, we open the floor to general discussions. Our goal: to develop all participants' understanding and ability to explain economic developments to others.
Topics this evening will include the ongoing capitalist global crisis in the US, Europe and Japan versus that of China, India and Brazil and the crisis of socialisms spanning Europe to China. We will also consider emerging economic and political movements that are developing in response to these crises.

On edit: people that may get interested in the "economic democracy" that Richard Wolff speaks of, this video I found absolutely worth my time:
and the local alternatives that are arising in the US now that are presented here:

with one of my former University of Maryland colleagues Gar Alperlowitz.
Thank you for posting BelgianM/C!

(5,379 posts)8. I hadn't seen anything from Gar Alperlowitz
but he seemed great. Where you sense Wolff is an ideas man, Alperlowitz seems to have hands-on experience as well.
You're welcome!
