US tightens up on protesting

In 2011, Time Magazine called The Protester the person of the year. But a new law that was recently signed by President Obama very well might mean that won't happen again. Since the start of the Occupy Wall Street Movement, over 6,700 Americans have been arrested for taking part in demonstrations and this new law could raise those numbers significantly. Marina Portnaya gives us the latest on H.R. 347, the Trespass Bill.

I find it sadly amazing that there are DU peeps who pooh-pooh HR 347 as "no bid deal" 99th_Monkey Mar 2012 #1

K&R

I hope many on DU watch this, as it does help distinguish between pre-HR347 and post-HR347,
and how it makes "offenses" that have been petty misdemeanors to now be serious felonies.

Obama is great. The wars have a meaning (though none can say what,) our freedoms are gone, and the banks, Big Energy and MIC own us all, but what' snot to like!

Like someone tweeted me today "Democracy - system where every 4 years, we get to choose which dictator will rule over us."

We should be marching in the streets and shouting form the roof toops about all the CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS that have been stripped from us.

Isn't this the kind of shit Hitler's government did as they morphed from democratically elected government to totalitarian police state?

Time to go sacrifice my fifty seven year old body to the governments Hell's Angels Police at my local Occupy Protest.

Or at least contemplate doing it in a DU post, anyway.

It will not end them. Everytime in every regime, when they turn ugly, the protesters win.

Thank God that DARPA has finished developement of the non-deadly heat ray. Now we can get rid of those pesky protesters and not have to really to kill them. More non-lethal wepons to come and all at tax payer expense...... I love this country!!

Crashed into a SWAT unit?

The local police department was "unveiling" the delightful lil drone when the mishap took place.
