30 years ago when a burglar tried to break in. Moot since I threw a steel window fan out as he tried to get in, but my husband said he was trying to get his gun out and the police said if he had to shoot, make sure you kill him dead.
No need since he never got into the house in the first place. Isn't that BETTER? 
More specifically statutory rape. He said, "For murder you can get 3-9, but Statutory Rape has a mandatory minimum, so you might as well kill her."
Glad nothing happened in your situation. And of course, trying to prevent a confrontation is always the best thing, except in Florida.
