I've been wanting to watch this, never came to my area so I had to wait until it hit the interwebs.
Thanks to Mr. Moore for his temerity and love of country.

(86,650 posts)for the first time. Some movies, like MM's, never make it to a theater near me... and I'm not one of those folks who will drive 100 miles one way to go see any movie no matter what it is or who made it.
Well worth watching even today. I'm sure I'll watch it again before long. Wouldn't it be interesting if it were something you would be encouraged to watch (at a convenient time like handed a DVD of it) when registering to vote?

(14,656 posts)the masses however dissent is a crime....at best allowed only in free
free speech zones....and now with facial recognition software that's
probably dubious too. I am very concerned.

(86,650 posts)why I posted this. We need to be concerned and as a reminder of what we have to deal with... holding no punches.
MM is at least entertaining to a point while making the point that our participation in mandatory if we want this to change. there is no politician who is our savior and there is no politician who is looking out for us, with the exception of maybe five that I can think of without serious research.

(14,656 posts)I think we need to withdraw/shun corporations that have and continue to
rape us. I know that is difficult but...............state banks like the one in ND
would help.

(86,650 posts)along with finding resourceful ways to remove the corporate products from one's environment. That's what I try to do whenever I go to buy something to eat or wear. Much of what needs to be done includes a transition in lifestyle for most people who have been lulled into thinking that their toys, gadgets and pseudo-conveniences are making our lives better. These are the very things that have helped allow this crap to happen. These gadgets/entertainments are mere distractions from our responsibilities as citizens. That is what has to change before we can expect any other kind of change in our government and policy.

(14,656 posts)I'm sitting here thinking of a million points I'd like to make. This
morning I contemplated writing a rant (would be my first in over
8 years of membership) about how fearful I am. I really am.
Over the last two months I have had the time to do a LOT of research
and reading and I don't see a good future for the U.S. I come to DU to
see what's up and find that we're not focusing on common causes...issues
that pertain to everyone regardless of race, gender, age, sexual perference,
or guns. Those issues are important but I think that now we need to be
paying more attention to what our government is doing abroad and how
other countries are reacting to us especially in regard to economic problems
which has a lot to do with saber rattling etc. Again...imho.

What we have become as a nation is frightening and I wonder how the next week is going to turn out, looking years ahead is too scary. Like this movie, the Shock Doctrine was a major eye-opener too. Both are pertinent and describe just what is going on in our name and ot seems the vast majority of our citizens haven't a clue about it. Sad and alarming.
We do what we can to help others see but the scales are hardened to their eyes and difficult to loosen.

(86,650 posts)the 20/20 hindsight thing... clarifies the past but also helps to know how to approach the future. It is still more info than anything we were able to access at the time.

(20,453 posts)Yes, it's THAT apropos. This is even MORE valuable to see if you just saw it when it came out in the theaters.
Well worth seeing it after seeing "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised earlier today!
