TYT: Trayvon Martin Smear Attempt By Glenn Beck's 'The Blaze'

Glenn Beck's website The Blaze is trying to paint Trayvon Martin as the aggressor, not George Zimmerman who shot the unarmed teen. The Blaze also brings up that Martin was suspended from school in an attempt to smear him. Ana Kasparian and Cenk Uygur break it down on The Young Turks.

2. Trayvon's suspension will be a element of Zimmerman's

defense if it is for something like fighting +. Zimmerman's attorney will portray it as a kid getting progressively more violent. I know that Trayvon's English teacher has claimed the suspension was for tardiness, but, if that is the case, it makes no sense to me. Trayvon is just going to get further behind in his classes from the suspension. A suspension is for doing something that violates the safety or order of the school - excessive absences and tardiness are something else entirely. If it is the case that they are meeting out two week suspensions for tardiness, then something needs to be done about the school. Requiring the child to serve after school detention with study help would be far more appropriate.

I think it was idiotic for the website to list the possible reasons for suspension, but the reason will be revealed in discovery. I understand Trayvon's parents unwillingness to talk about it - it detracts from the importance that their son was chased by a nut case with a gun for being black.

If it cannot be clearly established that it is Trayvon screaming for help, then Zimmerman will have a case to at least move his crime from murder to manslaughter. The nature of the suspension could factor into that decision.

does not justify murder - or more appropriately - the hunting of a human being.

Treyvon's school behavior is entirely irrelevant to this case.

Lets hope the prosecuting attorney does his job well and puts this guy away for life without parole.

13. A defense attorney can make almost anything relevant

I doubt the prosecutor could keep it out if the suspension was for fighting. Actually if Zimmerman's story is that Martin attacked him, then it can be relevant (evidence of prior violent behavior). No one saw the beginning of the fight (if there was a fight), and Zimmerman is entitled to present his defense.

Zimmerman's prior violent behavior is viewed as evidence as well.

11. Suspension for tardiness is near universal in High School

Usually after three tardys one get a detention, and after 6 one gets a suspension, which by the way could be an in school suspension. The number of tardys for various punishments vary, but a suspension is the norm for any higher number of tardys.

12. Still does not make any sense to suspend for tardies

The in school suspension with academic help possibly because of the disruptions related to the tardiness, but, if you are interested in the academics of the child, keeping them away from additional class time is confusing.

I hope you are right about it being for tardiness. That is one less potential defense strategy.

14. Suspended for tardiness doesn't make any sense at all.

Unless he was given detentions and did not serve them. Even still, it would be ISS. Out of school suspension is for more serious offenses in most high schools (fights or drugs).

And Faux has tried to frame it as an attack on the NRA. These people have no class or compassion for anything or anybody.

This case keeps getting more and more outrageous. And more and more upsetting.

It's also part of a larger trend. The right wing keeps bringing more unstable people into their fold. More fanatics, racists, morons, both in quantity and lower on the intellectual ladder - that's not hyperbole, it's borne out by facts - and what used to be ignored by the sane is now being addressed as if it has merit. It doesn't. They're proudly anti-science, pro-pollution, pro-torture, theocrats that should be ignored during adult conversations. That's not to say their lies shouldn't be debunked, but their ideas should not be part of serious political discussions.

It doesn't matter a damn to me what colour these people were, it's still murder. Even if Martin was guilty of ALL the things he could've been suspended for, it didn't give Zimmerman legal grounds to kill him.

16. Trayvon's father said he was in an unauthorized area of the school.

That could mean anything, and likely means nothing.

My son...and almost every other city teen I know...was once suspended for a non-violent prank. *shrug* doesn't sound like a reason for him to be shot.

17. Glenn Beck was fired from Fox, could it have been for....

Child abuse or murder or polygamy or necrophilia or sodomy or sexual harassment???? The list can go on and on. Speculating about what might have happened is just another way to smear a person. And Beck is safe because the boy he is insulting is dead.

The one thing Beck was NOT fired for was lying. So, he continues to lie on his radio show.
