Abby Martin Breaks the Set on Forgiveness for a Killer, 20 Years After NAFTA, Protesting Condoleezza Rice, and Amber Lyon on Media Censorship.
EPISODE BREAKDOWN: On this episode of Breaking the Set, Abby Martin remarks on the story of Bob Autobee, who after forgiving the man who murdered his son, fought to against having his assailant receiving a death sentence, calling capital punishment a crime against humanity. Abby then highlights a report by the Sierra Club which outlines the many negative effects that have resulted from the last twenty years of NAFTA. Abby also cites a report by Public Citizen that breaks down how the Trans Pacific Partnership is worse than NAFTA.
Abby then speaks to Rutgers University professor Rudy Bell, about the protest by school faculty members against former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice as the keynote speaker at the 2014 graduation ceremony. BTS wraps up the show with a look the state of media today, highlighting instances of journalists who have gone against the editorial lines of their respective networks. Abby also speaks with investigative journalist and former CNN reporter Amber Lyon, about her experience with media censorship and the topic of journalist integrity in time when disinformation is abound.
