Seemed to have cut off early.
L. Fletcher Prouty (the character played by Donald Sutherland in the Oliver Stone movie JFK) has a great online interview about his book The Secret Team..which is about the origins of the CIA and its operations during the Kennedy Administration.
Also, the movie The Quiet American made from the book Graham Greene (former British Intel Officer) is a great depiction of these kinds of operations during the 1950's....There are two versions of the movie (2002, 1958) - both dealing with the same subject...The latter version of the movie which stars Michael Caine is more consistent with the subject of this thread....The earlier version of the movie is interesting in comparison - much different treatment of the story and was made under the influence of McCarthyism.
Edward Lansdale is said to be the inspiration for the Graham Greene book.
