He was mimicking an Elephant swaying back and forth, when it raised its trunk and sprayed him in the face with a trunk-load of nasty green crud. Apparently, the poor beast was having a bad Day and didn't appreciate the insult.

One summer just after high school the quickest, coolest job I could find was traveling with the King Brothers Family Circus as a laborer. As well as putting up tents, I also had the opportunity to help the elephant handler from time to time.

Elephants get so good with their trunks they can actually take the shell of a peanut off with it. They loop their trunk with the peanut in the bottom of the loop. They then roll the peanut until the shell comes off, bend the end of their trunk into the loop, pick up the peanut and eat it. The peanut never touches the ground. The end of the trunk has little flap of skin that acts almost like a finger. They use it for the fine work. They are so smart. I love elephants.
