Ben Carson: ‘Anything is slavery that robs you’ like ‘neo-Marxist’ Obamacare

Conservative darling Dr. Ben Carson on Sunday defended comparing President Barack Obama’s health care law to slavery by insisting that “anything is slavery that robs your of your ability to control your own life.”

Speaking to the Values Voter Summit in Washington last year, Carson had lashed out at the Affordable Care Act for being “the worst thing that has happened in this nation since slavery.”

“And it is in a way, it is slavery in a way, because it is making all of us subservient to the government, and it was never about health care,” he said. “It was about control.”

During a panel discussion on Sunday, NBC host David Gregory pointed out that people who were able to get health insurance because of the new law would most likely disagree with Carson.

I made the appointment, and they are really going to see me. I didn't know I was supporting slavery.

Thanks Obama

My Doctor is Chinese. Now I'm really confused. But at least I seem to be healthy. Then tomorrow I go and support some more slavery while they check my eyes. It's at Costco, which as we all know is a notoriously Marxist place.

...designed to help the uninsured meet the right ins co who will meet their healthcare insurance needs? He has no business opening his mouth if he doesn't understand the basic tenets of the ACA.

Back when he practiced, he would have hated to operate on all patients who had no insurance. I don't even think he would have seen them, but now that he is out, he flips....typical BS right wing..... he even believes that the earth is 5000 years old.....science vs the right...good Luck Ben, not too sure how many teapartiers carrying those racist sign will be in your corner....

Mostly because I favor single payer, or at least a public option. I'm poor and qualify for the Medicaid expansion (live in Illinois). End of last March (on my birthday, yikes!) I slipped and fell, fractured the ulna in my right arm. Thanks to the Medicaid expansion I was able to follow the recommendation I got at the emergency room and make a follow-up appointment with a specialist. He, thankfully, told me I did not need surgery and would make a full recovery but without the ability to afford an appointment I would still be wondering. And what the hell would I have done if I did need surgery? Still waiting for these healthcare-is-only-for-those-who-can-afford-it types to address issues like this.

reporters, including Gregory, don't do this nearly enough. Call these people on things they say in front of extremist audiences like the Values Voter Summit. When they do get called, they get exposed as hypocrites and frauds like Carson just did here. Unlike the Values Voters freaks, relatively normal people watch MTP and his comparison of Obamacare to slavery is obviously nonsense to that audience.
