One hell of a very touching commercial

At Food City, we honor those people that serve and protect our country, and we know that without the men and women who watch out for us, we would not have any of the luxuries we do. We are the land of the free because of the brave and we salute you!

How long did grandpa have to wait for Junior to pull up with the perfect timing, on a perfect day, in a perfect neighborhood surrounded by perfectly casted white people. Makes you wonder what perfect stories junior has to tell about his tour 'over there'. Makes me want to gag...honestly. Pandering of the highest order.

Honor? Warrior? The US armed forces only engage when they vastly outnumber the enemy forces. Tanks, Satellite imagery, guided drones packing maverick missile heat, total, dominant air cover, radium-tipped armor piercing ammunition. Not quite like shooting fish in a barrel, but damn close to it. Hey Steve, how far up the chain of command would you honor these "Warriors"? Joint Chiefs of Staff? Donald Rumsfeld?
How did most of our "Warriors" buy the big one-way ticket? Being in the wrong place at the wrong end of an IED.
We lost 4,500 young men and women on a lie. How many Iraqi men women and children did our warriors incinerate with our "Shock and Awe"? We don't even know the fucking answer to that do we Steverino? You know why? I'll tell you why...because it's not important, is it?

Ask any returning grunt from that meat grinder if he or she considers themselves heroes to be honored by us. To honor is to recognize a noble act. We should be begging forgiveness instead.

Let us keep it to non-coms and below for this discussion.

I live just a couple miles from Offutt: http://www.offutt.af.mil/

I know many Vets that don't share your point of view. I did lose somebody close to Nam.

Only engage when they vastly outnumber the enemy forces? So you were there? You were there when my bro was ambushed when he wasn't even on a combat mission. Generalizing is something wingnuts do. Let them do it.

BTW. He doesn't ask for anything except for his life back. He doesn't talk about it. Fallujah. Feb to Sept 2004.

all war deaths are to be mourned.

returning service members should be well taken care of.

the horrors they faced should be addressed psychologically.

but "honor"-ing service to corporatist/imperialist interests...no.

the u.s military does not serve the american people in general, it serves the rich.

people should be educated to avoid military service under imperialism.

the risk of death, dismemberment, and killing of innocents should not be an economically viable choice.
