FUCKING EXPLANATION.

How about not forcing us to waste time and go thru a video we don't want to watch?

Or is that asking too much?

6. The OP should have included a link to Coniff's article. I'd rather read than listen. Link here:

I agree with you, posting your own video is cheeky enough, at least provide a description and, in this case, a link to the article being discussed:

And I do have sympathy for those who have slow internet access or are hearing impaired, but a few things:

1) The title is "FBI Raid Charter Schools Across The Country- Ruth Conniff Discusses." That is what we discuss in the video. That is a description of the video.
2) This was posted in the video and multimedia section. No one is forcing you to watch videos you don't want to watch. If you don't want to watch videos, don't watch videos.
3) Saying a show is "cheeky" for posting at DU? Lots of progressive shows post videos here. Does the DU community not want that?

That being said, if people the DU community would like a link to the articles we're talking about in these interviews, that is totally doable.

16. It's not that hard to add a link to the article, for starters.

Thank you for understanding that part.

Secondly, we don't know from the title how long a piece might be and if it will be worth the time. TYT videos are notoriously long for the content they provide.

Third, if you want exposure for the topic and for your channel and efforts, then it only makes sense to include a link to the story so that people can spread the work, share with others.

Finally, cheeky refers to posting to your own products, it's a tongue in cheek vary minor snark that ought not to be taken too seriously.

No offense intended.

Some of us work in offices, or have slow data rates, or are too fucking busy to watch a boring, meandering video - where the point is made 6 minutes in.

A short description would be extremely helpful.

for a video to load, & then you may have to it through a lot of pauses before you discover it's something you already know about, is longer than you want to sit through, or are uninterested in. It is a courtesy to give some small idea of the content for those of us who labor under these conditions.

I'm with you, bandwidth and sound problems and I don't want to listen to the banter.

At least include a link to an article.

There's been a flood of local news stories in recent months about FBI raids on charter schools all over the country.

From Pittsburgh to Baton Rouge, from Hartford to Cincinnati to Albuquerque, FBI agents have been busting into schools, carting off documents, and making arrests leading to high-profile indictments.

"The troubled Hartford charter school operator FUSE was dealt another blow Friday when FBI agents served it with subpoenas to a grand jury that is examining the group's operations. When two Courant reporters arrived at FUSE offices on Asylum Hill on Friday morning, minutes after the FBI's visit, they saw a woman feeding sheaves of documents into a shredder." --The Hartford Courant, July 18, 2014

"The FBI has raided an Albuquerque school just months after the state started peering into the school's finances. KRQE News 13 learned federal agents were there because of allegations that someone may have been taking money that was meant for the classroom at the Southwest Secondary Learning Center on Candelaria, near Morris in northwest Albuquerque ..." --KRQE News 13, August 1, 2014

"Wednesday evening's FBI raid on a charter school in East Baton Rouge is the latest item in a list of scandals involving the organization that holds the charter for the Kenilworth Science and Technology School.... Pelican Educational Foundation runs the school and has ties to a family from Turkey. The school receives about $5,000,000 in local, state, and federal tax money.... The FBI raided the school six days after the agency renewed the Baton Rouge school's charter through the year 2019." --The Advocate, January 14, 2014

I think the Feds need to peer into the corruption and fraud waste and abuse in the Public education system while they're at it. Especially Oakland Unified School as an example here in California, just one of many corrupt districts, and oh, yeah, the Universities across the nation. and oh don't stop there, please peer into Congress Critters, Banks, Supreme Court Justices, Prison industrial complex and i could go and on.

The list is endless. My point is this a hit piece on Charter schools IN GENERAL (as in ALL charter schools) as opposed to specific corruption of these mentioned in the article.

Not all charter schools are engaged in fraud and corruption.

17. I think that's an important reality to bring to the discussion on this subject.

I'm no expert in the field, or have personal experience other than as an observing parent/grandparent and as a volunteer.. But for all sorts of reasons the education system in this country has been failing for decades, to which it seems Charter Schools attempts (in general) to address, in a manner of speaking.

IMO, It does no service to the public to ignore the root causes and issues plaguing the public school system across the country vis a vis blanket demonization of educators who really are dedicated to changing this paradigm.
