The National Republican Congressional Committee released an ad on Monday that features a thin model -- apparently intended to represent Kirkpatrick -- strutting back and forth across the screen in heels with a suitcase on wheels. Her head and shoulders are cut off in the shot throughout the 30-second ad, and the female voice in the background says Kirkpatrick "carries a lot of baggage."

The ad's main charges seem to be that Kirkpatrick is a woman and that she supports President Barack Obama. It includes soundbites of Kirkpatrick noting that she likes the Affordable Care Act and is "not going to second guess the President."

Emily's List, a progressive political action committee dedicated to electing pro-choice Democratic women, is supporting Kirkpatrick against her challenger, Arizona House Majority Whip Andy Tobin. A spokeswoman for Emily's List said she is not surprised the NRCC made a gendered attack on Kirkpatrick.
Given that Andy Tobin is one of the very worst of the bunch when it comes to womens issues, its troubling Republicans used a disembodied womans legs to attack his opponent," Jess McIntosh told HuffPost. "Maybe addressing womens issues head on -- which would include a face -- is just too tough for these guys.

Way to go GOP, you sure are trying hard to win the women's vote. That goes for you too Andy, you all make my skin crawl. What a bunch of misogynist crap!
I got something else from this. The article states that it is about her legs. Well if you look at the video, she is cut off at the waist. What you have left is a uterus and a vagina walking around on a pair of legs. We all know how they focus on our uteri. Their interest is extremely unhealthy and rather disturbing.
Try looking in our face when you talk to us. We are not disembodied parts. We are whole, living breathing women that have more sense than God gave the men of the GOP.
I see this ad whenever the TV is on.
Disgusting. I think they think it's clever.

Tobin S.
(10,418 posts)Andy Tobin is in no way affiliated with the one of a kind, genuine, open-minded, trucker for feminists Tobin S. as seen on DU.

(5,141 posts)Just like their counter to any criticism about Sarah the Grifter, they say "that's because you're jealous that Republican women are more beautiful than liberal women." Their argument doesn't have anything to do with intelligence or merit or anything other than looks. Because women are only as valuable as their looks.
I had to snicker at your last sentence in the OP...I have had men hold entire conversations with my breasts. Some years ago a particularly creepy individual would not stop doing so at a work function and I stopped responding verbally. About 2 minutes went by till it dawned on him and he turned his face up toward mine whereupon I looked down at my breasts and said to them "well...answer the man!!!" He scurried away very quickly, while the other women in my department broke out into hysterics. It was awesome!

As opposed to Sarah, who's starting to get real haggard looking.

(5,141 posts)I always tell them that I've actually seen pictures of the women at the tealiban rallies so don't even go there. And yes Sarah IS very haggard looking - I get the feeling Sarah is on something...i have a relative who has a meth problem and the personalities and rapid aging are so similar that I can't help but think she's tweaking.
