(8,170 posts)He initials the cover slip to show he has checked it. Problem: even on simple ballots like these people make marks that overlap into the other box, often due to disability. Because "spoiled" votes are anathema these are checked to ensure that they have been entered into the correct total and only recorded as spoiled if there is absolutely no way to know which choice the voter made.
The second I'm not sure, partially because the video is so heavily edited but I suspect a similar reason as there are so few voting slips on the desk.
Because the count is open, identifiable representatives of both sides are present as well as the public and either can raise the matter immediately with the Returning Officer. It is also highly unlikely that these are examples of voter fraud because having a few counters on your side just will not give you a 10% margin.
I don't think either video shows anything nefarious. Rather, it shows how unfamiliar the commentator is with the vote certification and vote tallying process. Sheesh. "OM OOOTRAGED, I TELLZ YUH!"

(340 posts)and I agree with your post.
Even if some fraud took place it would not have changed the outcome.

(41,832 posts)The Bush family rigged the election. That first time when the Supreme court gave it to George W. Bush.. and I am pretty sure in the second term, there were some vote rigging. That is something we need to fix before the next Presidential Election, imagine who or what we might get, if the Republicans are allowed to steal it again?

(53,235 posts)Any suit will go nowhere. We knew the vote would fail, cuz the UK wants their oil.
Bartlet
(172 posts)The UK would still control the oil since they already lease the land from Scotland and those leases would not change. Scotlands independence has nothing to do with rights to drill and lease agreements, so the idea that somehow this vote was rigged is just not supported by any facts.
The voting is easy enough to verify, it's a simple yes no ballot. Those crying foul have no clue how the process is being done and ave their own political agenda to push.
