(28,979 posts)Do you really think Duke University's Ebola Conference with the world's experts is equivalent to some guy in Japan spouting off about how it is all some CT???

(8,559 posts)Interesting that you make such a reply only 13 minutes after I post a video that's
over 70 minutes long.
You seem to be condemning a video you didn't even bother to view. As to your
question about some equivalency comparison between Corbett and anyone appearing
in the video in your OP, no, that was not my intention. I do consider Corbett to be
a good researcher and a credible and sensible reporter.

(28,979 posts)Labels ebola a "panic" manufactured by MSM. Speaks of ramping up fear. As if those studying the situation are doing this merely by being informed. If they want you to believe something he advises believing the opposite. Logic.
He says don't "go into a tizzy. Not going to be a pandemic." Yes. His crystal ball told him that. Nothing to see here. "It isn't a zombie apocalypse," says he. What exactly does this guy have to offer to anyone trying to find out information about the spread of a deadly disease? Nothing Uninformed opinion. Not worth wasting and hour of my time to listen to.
The experts at the Duke Medical School that I posted held a symposium today. With facts. Firsthand information. They did not once mention conspiracy theories as both your posts did. I do not understand why you insist a post that informs the public about a critical health issue in Africa represents some scam or CT to create mass panic. I believe that is the last thing these folks want to do.
Obviously you didn't listen to the OP video at all.

(28,979 posts)What they poo-pooed back then is being taken much more seriously now. These two sound like they have no information. They are neither experts nor involved in the recent outbreak. They sound like idiots.

(28,979 posts)He and Nurse Rachet sound like they are on the 700 Club. "Ebola. Hahaha. No worries. Only a few AFRICANS are sick..." These are not experts on anything but listening to the sounds of their own voices.

(28,979 posts)And I am sure dying Africans have more important things to worry about than your opinions that it is all a giant conspiracy theory.
I am starting to think that Americans just can't bother themselves to be at all concerned about a deadly outbreak if it is in Africa. Yet we are talking of sending military and medical personnel into the field. We ought to become informed by actual experts not loonies with opinions backed up with zero evidence.

(245 posts)the governments and populace there don't seem to put much into medical, sewage and hygiene education, as as displayed when the quarantine was broken and the infected where taken to their homes.
Because of this it's a case of "what did you expect would happen".
DavidG_WI
(245 posts)due to how it's transmitted it's much ado about nothing in any country with proper hygiene infrastructure.
So like bird flu, swine flu, h1n1,, chronic wasting disease, it's ll media hype for those fear driven ad dollars.

(28,125 posts)To me this epidemic is not some CT nor is it a reason for Americans to panic. But for these poor African countries, omg.
This thread has certainty added to my ignore list. Can't believe these ppl are on DU.

(28,979 posts)Thank you for restoring my faith that DU still has some people with sense here. I posted this because it seemed a very serious catastrophe for Africans. And primates too! To hear others simply dismiss it as "hyped" or a "scam" based on the fact they don't think it will impact them is dumbfounding. It is not about them. At least it isn't at the moment. No country has the resources to handle a pandemic. We are committing ourselves to sending American medical personnel into a very dangerous situation.
Some of us are related to people who might be asked to go. I am not living in a state of panic. But neither am I in denial. Or calloused enough not to care because it isn't happening where I live.
Just because our government could find people willing to infect blankets with smallpox to trade with Indians doesn't mean everything is a nefarious plot.
