Want to see something that will LIFT YOUR SPIRITS? The "issue" here is elderly care.

(You have to have an "issue" to post in this forum, so I'm making my issue clear from the git-go)

The hook is the POWER of MUSIC to improve their lives.

I love this clip--six minutes of grace, love, joy and humanity:

I lost both my parents last year; in the months before their deaths, music was one of the few things that could take them away from the pain (my mum) and the sorrow (my dad, missing my mum) for a little while.

This is a lovely video. It made me cry - in a good way.

I might pop in on the odd thread, but for the most part, when I look in there, I feel like the awkward new kid in the corner who doesn't get the jokes and the innuendos. I think the people who frequent that place enjoy it and they probably don't need my farty old-school comments screwing up their riffs!

If you think folks in that forum will enjoy this, send 'em over for a look! I thought it was a useful commentary on the power of music and the importance of maintenance of quality of life for seniors even in their very advanced years--nothing like a little music therapy to get the heart (and the voice) singing.

When the D3 preview was open some time back you could embed stuff in the lounge too.
That's what I meant to do.

It's a wonderful commentary.

Nothing worse than the "dork who doesn't get it" stinking up the riff! I'll poke my head in every now and again!

I think we still can embed stuff in the lounge--I know we can in other forums; I just thought this one was as good a fit as any.

Wonderful testament to the truth that Hindu sages discovered milleniums ago--music and sound heal us both physically and psychically.

I don't think those kinds of programs are "wastes of money" at all. Get the mind working, get the body working, express yourself!

Those Hindu sages were called sages for a good reason, eh?

are a major part of what defines us as humans.

Any educational curriculum worthy of the name should include these disciplines and give them equal emphasis along with the "academic" subjects.

How can anyone claim to be "educated" without at least a rudimentary knowledge of our common culture?

MY Mom is in an Alz. unit. I have been using the iPad to write to her. She can read quite well but her hearing isn't up to par.

I will use the iPad to play some Gene Autry for her on Youtube tomorrow.

can help reduce the other sounds. I would go for something bigger than those pesky ear-buds, something like we see on the YT clip.
