A newly released video, produced by the State Building and Construction Trades Council (of California), describes the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) long history of driving down wages and misrepresenting the people it claims to represent.
The ABC says it represents 84 percent of the construction industry in California, which is their way of implying that 84 percent of contractors in the state are non-union. However, in reality they represent a mere 1,200 general contractors and subcontractors out of a total 340,000 who are licensed in the state. Moreover, the video states, their inability to support their own apprenticeship programs harms the overall industry and allows ABC contractors the ability to undercut contractors who properly support the apprenticeship system that is so important to the workforce.

RW are supposedly against immigration except when they want to import even lower wage workers that they can send back when they are used up. They have found a way to outsource construction jobs in America.

as much as any Republican has to ruin the trades. ABC pretty much destroyed the Unions in Florida-I had no idea they were a nation wide pestilence.

(1,917 posts)6. These were the a**holes behind the sales tax amendment...
in my state(MO) recently. A fucking amendment. To the state constitution that lets sales tax pay for road repair(public fleecing) that would be done by the big corps. And like you said, minimal wages and job ops.
Luckily, it failed so far. But they'll be at it again, sure as you can say 'suckers'.
