. . . but the reality is a lot of veterans and veterans' families (not all, certainly, but many) don't want to hear a word about "unjust wars," or anything at all that might even hint at the possibility that their (or their loved one's) sacrifice had been in vain. For these folks (and again, I realize it isn't all veterans), they are perfectly happy with a shallow, de rigeur "Thanks for your service." Or if they aren't exactly happy with it, they can't bring themselves to admit why they are unhappy with it.
