Here's to my cousin & great & hilariously funny best friend. He died from AIDS on Valentines Day 1990 at a hospice in Denver. He was 28.
Thanks to every Hospice that gently cares for all these kind souls.

. . . go I. came out in 1980, and had the kind adventures one might expect of a young, 19-year-old man in NYC, and didn't really practice safer sex until about 1986. Somehow, I managed to dodge the bullet. Many of my friends were not so fortunate. All I can say is I'm grateful to the universe that I'm still here (and I am even grateful to have lived long enough to now contend with a couple of conditions not uncommon for middle aged folks: Type II Diabetes and high blood pressure. God knows they're challenging enough!

The 80's/90's were terrifying as AIDS became rampant.
A friend of my cousin, who attended his funeral, told me that day he had been to 16 funerals that winter. All his friends had died from that horrid disease.
He said, in tears, "There's only a few of us left".

Glad you are still here with us markpkessinger.
