- The guys singing background on this cut formed their own band later. The Blackbryds, of course......





And of course, Professor Bryd's wife, Dorothy Ashby is a phenomenon on jazz harp:

Thanks for the extra clips. Waking in Rhythm! Love Grover Washington Jr., too. Same time period grove. What the hell happened to the evolution of Jazz, it just kind of stopped after the 1970's - except for Latin Jazz.

...to thank for nurturing and developing Herbie Hancock (and providing him shelter from life's storms) and for his development of so many other jazz and musical talents. He literally taught many of them. And his sideman gigs alone reads like a Who's Who in jazz.

I grew up listening to all kinds of music, but this album was right in front (a 17 year-old Herbie Hancock is playing piano):





And speaking of Latin jazz, there's none better (still) than Eumir Deodato in my view:



Note- Billy Cobham is playing drums on this cut.....
