There’s a dog trapped on the riverbank and no one stops to help. The dog catchers, police and fire department have all waved their hands in refusal. They all agree that the dog “can’t” be rescued in such a precarious location. But they are dead wrong and one man is about to prove it.

Watch dog rescuer Sasha Pesic calmly slip into a Spider-Man-like persona and climb down a bridge to reach the frightened dog stranded by the water below. Be prepared to get swept away in the way that Sasha makes such an incredible feat look quite easy. If you’re in a hurry, skip to the 30 second mark and start watching from there.

Many of you have read about Sasha Pesic’s exquisite cage-free dog sanctuary in Nis, Serbia. A massive swell of support saved his sanctuary from being forced to relocate last month, and since then Sasha has been immersed in numerous rescues of dogs that no one else is willing to help. Though the dog sanctuary will still need to relocate, that won’t happen until summertime, allowing ample time to prepare a new site.

What Happened to the Dog?

The question on everyone’s mind will be, what happened to the dog in this video? Two women at the scene who had called Sasha to ask for help said that they would care for the dog and left with her. In Serbia, there are massive stray dog populations everywhere, so the fact that this dog is wearing a collar sadly doesn’t mean that she has a home. It simply means that she once did, and after this brush with death, she now has people to look after her once again.

On my way home today I met a few of my friends and they told me that there is a small dog stranded on one of Nišava's river islands.

So we went there to try to help but from our perspective there was little we could do without some gear and tools. We started calling various institutions and people but only Mr. Saša Pešić from "Dog shelter" (#savesashasdogs) came to the rescue.
Without too much thinking he did what he did and with his permission I present his heroic deed to you.
