Watch Ricky's rescue story! Ricky is settling in at the sanctuary, and will soon have access to a large habitat to roam and play. She'll even get to meet other bears! We would like to give a big thanks to BakerHostetler and everyone who contributed to this lawsuit to free Ricky. Thanks also to the rescue team, and the great people at The Wild Animal Sanctuary for providing her such a great new home.

(7,699 posts)Just moved here 12 years ago. I moved from Maryland, and thought I was moving North. After I got here,
I realized I had not only moved 'south', DEEP south, I had also gone back in time to 1863.
But honestly, my vote is needed here more, and I had a great time working the Kerry and Obama campaigns.
Wish I could still do that campaign work today. But I did permanently convert a lot of people to Democrats
AND got them all volunteering. Best experience of my life.

(7,699 posts)I joined DU in 2003 after the local Republican Party kept calling me to try to recruit me, and the boobs wouldn't take no for an answer.
I told them I'm a lifelong solid blue Maryland Dem. They asked me what hours can I come in...............
I said I hate GW, and told them why. They said what hours can you come in..........
Sorry I'm just getting back to you. You are right, I have not posted much. I did all that when I moved up here (Shrewsbury) 20 years ago. The GOP'ers up here are really batty. I met Scott Wagner when I was working the polls last election. He was polite enough to introduce himself, but you could see he was so full of himself he was ready to pop!

It's hard to make a choice, and I know ALDF has come calling to us before for money.
I'll chose them next time we have our opportunity to give.
