On the BBC's topical comedy quiz show Have I Got News For You, regular team captain Ian Hislop called the Tea Party "basically UKIP with guns". I believe it was actually Jean-Marie Le Pen in France who originated this latest mutation of fascism, dropping the "skinheads 'n' swastikas" image and restoring fascism to its roots as primarily a movement of the petit-bourgouise, sometimes even claiming to be fighting against "liberal fascism". Greece's Golden Dawn, with its open invocation of Nazi imagery, looks positively retro by comparison.
