Boston, New York, Dallas - now we're all feeling the pain this winter season. So here's a happy little song for you to sing on Monday morning!

(40,656 posts)less than one foot of snow all winter, dry roads for the most part, 45 degrees outside right now. We're doomed.

(129,228 posts)We're on tap to have our 6th or possibly 5th coldest February on record. So far we have dodged alot of the snow this year (we are just under our average of ~21" so far) but it's been glacial - very much like '77 & '78, Last year was our 2nd worst winter on record with > 60" snow. The worst on record was just a couple years before that ('09 - '10 season) with > 70" of snow.

And YES, Winter IS f***ed UP!
PEACE!
We're finally having our first two days, that I know of anyway, where both the nighttime low and daytime high temperatures will be below "average" this winter. Mind you, that winter is four weeks from over and we're finally getting temperatures that resemble normal and are, wait for it, ***whoohoo*** below an average for the season. Not to mention that there's no snow on the ground here where there's usually snow on the ground and in the mountains where its foot measurement is suppose to be in the tens, twenties and thirties, there's barely a couple, again for another so-called winter. We should just call it what it is, fall-spring.
So if you're blue about winter because there's snow and it being cold where you are at a time of year when it is suppose to be cold and there's suppose to be lots of snow, feel fortunate, maybe even gleeful. There's an entire other side of the country that is going without...again. And what's worse is with the Pacific Ocean surface temperatures also stagnantly higher than normal, the forecast for the foreseeable future will probably remain the same.

(30,252 posts)I was just about to write off this winter as a dud - Dallas has had a few cold days, but not much in the way of actual winter weather. Maybe a snow flurry or two, but that's it. Now we've got ourselves an actual freeze going, and the late opening my office scheduled for today has turned into a total shutdown until tomorrow morning. In other words, this is weather we're supposed to have, so we might as well enjoy it while it lasts.
