13. I remember local story here

Went to my old HS. Parents called the police saying their son was suicidal, cops arrived he was holding a dull kitchen knife, he was shot & killed parents later sue the police department & lose. Whether the police were justified or not -- (it would be hell to find articles nearly 10 years old) calling the police over a family situation didn't work out for the family.

Even for a person whose mental processes are fully intact and healthy, being screamed at -- by even one person let alone several at once -- can be confusing and disorienting. It makes the orders themselves harder to register and understand, and thus will tend to increase the time it takes for a subject to comply!
