For all of Rand's talk of rationality, she comes off as being completely irrational.

Thanks for this video. I had never heard her before. Once was enough, though!

to turn the Law of the Jungle into a philosophy.... and... and call it... Objectivism...

That'd be no mean feat. Just ask a one percenter... or a five percenter. They're a wrastlin' with the profounder points of it all the time. She must have been as brilliant as those Klu Klux Klanners with the banner above them: 'Jesus saves'. Somehow, I don't think any of them are going to make the cut.

fits in quite nicely with her philosophy.
The fact the reason the money is there to help others makes no difference.
Money's there, take it.

11. Social Security is Not Welfare

The Republican strategy to destroy social security begin with rebranding it as charity. It is in fact an earned benefit, a form of social insurance. It is true that some people pay more than they get back and some pay less, but that is the nature of insurance.

Let us not allow social security to be presented as welfare, even if it does appeal to one's sense of irony in the case of Ayn Rand.

9. Paul Ryan's Idol!

When the campaigning for 2012 was going on, why didn't they make a bigger deal about Paul Ryan's adoration for this woman? They seemed to merely just mention it. And I know he was the vice-presidential nominee, and not the presidential-nominee, but still....If they could make such a big deal about Obama and his association with Jeremiah Wright, I think they could have voiced Ryan's love for Rand a little louder! Anyway, we won!!

I read Atlas Shrugged when I was about 16 and came close to being enthralled by her all-encompassing philosophy, but it just seemed a little to close to any other cult except it didn't have the religious component.

I think it was William Buckley's (a dedicated Catholic) obituary for her:
The committee to horsewhip Ayn Rand has been disbanded, responsibility having passed to a higher authority.
