Thanks to Steve young people today can see what is possible with the organizing power of the internet. They can get their nose out
of their IPhones and get out in the streets. See what is possible if you try. It is the young people today who will be the big loosers if they don't get off their butts and get out of the bars and taverns. The new legalization of marijuana could mean a whole generation of happy clueless passive people.

There is a learned passivity today. At 69 years of age I took a college class at my alma matter and sat in the back. I was shocked at the passivity of the students. The prof. could hardly get them to talk. They were on their IPhones too. In my day there would have been eager hands up to talk share and discuss this exciting material.

I prayed during the recent anti war movement, that is still going on, by the way, that young people would join us. They preferred to stay home in large numbers. Lots of grey hair at the demos. When I see young people being active, I mentor and encourage them.

You couldn't keep us home, even as kids, out whenever possible playing in the hoods, parks. Same in HS and college, hiking, hanging out in parks playing frisbee or music, on campus lawns, travelling to clubs and outdoor places to hear live music concerts, going to movies, visiting cities, attending movement events.

Live music and justice affairs were catalysts for getting us out to mingle, see other places I think. Two young relatives have lived in FL, AZ and Oregon yet now in NC rarely leave their house or environs. Much time on the computer, some TV; no interest in traveling to cities like NY, DC, or NE, overseas.

We were curious and excited about so much. I still notice high interest with today's young in regard to the internet, science, and futurism. And what a very different world; less financial security, mobility and scarier times IMO. The OWS movement made an impact however, was great to see. Things will change for the better in time I believe.
