South Carolina Shooting Was Right Wing Terrorism — Plain and Simple

Last week, a deranged right wing lunatic entered a Church in South Carolina, opened fire, and killed 9 people. Not only did he tell the black crowd that they were raping our women and had to go, but his manifesto reads like a combination of the worst ideas from Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck, and Bill O’Reilly. The media is reluctant to talk about race, even though the killer admitted that this was racially motivated.

Ring of Fire's Mike Papantonio and political analyst Chauncey DeVega discuss this.

very bad adults who know what it takes to capture impressionable minds.

I'm still wondering why his parents gave him the middle name "storm"? Did they just like the sound of the word or were they thinking "storm troopers"?

of an Islamic extremist suicide bomber.
Young, uneducated, disillusioned and extremely malleable.
Taken advantage of by chickenshit cowards.

One difference though, other than the obvious, is that unlike Islamic extremists, our terrorists have a news outlet made juuuust for them.

The massacre took place on the same date, June 17 that freed slave leader and abolitionist Denmark Vesey planned a slave revolt in Charleston, South Carolina for June 17, 1822. The original date of the rebellion, July 14, Bastille Day was moved back to June 17. But the plan for freedom was thwarted and resulted in the death of Vesey and 32 other people.

Also known as Telemaque, Vesey was a co-founder of the Emanuel AME church in Charleston, scene of the recent massacre. Emmanuel Church was established around 1818 and has a long history connected to the anti-slavery, self determination and civil rights movements.

Dylann Roof was well aware of the historic black church's traditions and the 1822 attempted slave rebellion by Vesey the freedom fighter. The white nationalist material Roof had is being examined by the FBI. Among the groups that influenced the killer are the CoCC, the Council of Conservative Citizens, a longtime white nationalist and supremacist organization with ties to the GOP, and the Aryan white nationalist group Northwest Front, HQ Seattle.

If I saw this creature walking down the street I wouldn't be able to keep myself from wondering what's up with the mushroom on top of his head.

Shallow of me, I know; ridiculous to judge someone by their hair. Ridiculous! And yet it appears to me that this kid's hair is an intentional choice, not just poor taste. Okay, maybe I'm wrong, maybe I'm shallow. Maybe I should look at him as another victim. I just don't know. I think there's hell to pay for this kid's action; I hope some good eventually comes of it. Those poor folks he assassinated are martyrs, and they showed him a hell of a lot more class than he showed them.
