some one is upsetting some carefully laid plans?

(25,699 posts)And none of it involved his choice of suits, sighing, or "inventing the itnernet."
1) he ran against clinton policies because clinton was "scandalous." That is he leaned to the right from an already-centrist platform, obviously for political expediency rather than any actual opposition. he came off as fake due to this.
2) Joe Lieberman? What the happy fuck was that about? In hindsight, i'm almost a little glad Gore lost 'cause I have a sneaking suspicion that he would have suffered a "mysterious mishap" in his first term and we'd have had President Lieberman. Scary thought. At any rate, butting a guy who was to the right of George bush into your campaign agaisnt George bush was a stupid move.
3) He didn't contest the results. Then he did. Then he didn't. Then he did. Yes, the fix was in, but damn I'd rather he gone down kicking the entire time rather than what he actually did.

If the tables had been turned the Republicans would have fought tooth and nail until every bullshit excuse was used to discredit the opposition. Hell, they still don't acknowledge that Barack Obama is a legitimate President.

(19,326 posts)In other words, what issue positions are not being addressed that Gore could do better?
Personally I think that would spell huge problems for Hillary, much more than Sanders.
While I like Gore, esp. his unyielding work on climate change, I think he's mostly viewed
in a similar way that Hillary is, i.e. as a 3rd Way establishment Democrat.

(5,217 posts)help Hillary because they both have name recognition and will draw from both the Bernie pool and the Hillary pool. But both Biden and Gore are establishment figures who would throw their support behind Hillary when they invariably dropped out.
The right wing of the party is flailing in the dark trying to break Bernie's momentum.

(17,064 posts)Other than the environment, I don't know what his current positions are.
I agree with post above, that Gore doesn't add anything to the field not already covered. He had his chance, and won, but didn't fight hard enough to hang on to the prize.

(23,156 posts)Drafting a non candidate will never work. I respect Al Gore, but I suspect he would, if necessary, repeat William Tecumseh Sherman's promise: "I will not accept if nominated and will not serve if elected."

They is nobody who matters ... Al Gore isn't going to put his hat out there again unless something dreadful happened and the party NEEDED someone of Al's stature ... Otherwise - count Al out ..
